Coaching pilot programme for Headteachers in Hertfordshire

Challenge:
Headteachers are facing increased pressures due to educational reforms and evolving leadership challenges. Herts for Learning recognised this challenge and agreed to run a pilot programme in partnership with InHarness to offer coaching to support Headteachers in the county with both personal wellbeing and professional growth.
Solution:
- Delivered targeted coaching sessions to Headteachers, focusing on leadership development, emotional intelligence, and resilience in managing change.
- Provided guidance on improving communication and collaboration within their schools, helping Headteachers lead more effectively in high-pressure environments.
- Addressed both individual leadership styles and the unique challenges faced by their schools, creating personalised coaching plans that aligned with their specific goals.
Outcome:
Schools under the leadership of the coached Headteachers experienced improved communication and collaboration, positively impacting both staff and student outcomes.
Headteachers reported increased self-awareness and leadership effectiveness, leading to improved staff morale and stronger school management.
The coaching sessions empowered Headteachers to lead with greater confidence, particularly in navigating complex changes within the education sector.
This programme has now been formalised and InHarness are a formal partner with Herts for Learning to provide coaching in Hertfordshire.
